It is really close to sign up time for this again. I have four questions for y'all, and I don't feel like making a poll, so answer them as you will.
1) What new fandoms have big threesome ships?
2) What new fandoms have a threesome you're interested in, even if it's not big? I usually add one to the offer list. I am leaning towards Losers, but I may be persuaded to pick something else.
3) Would it be easier/better/more fun/etc. to run this on AO3? I'm leaning against, to be honest, but I am willing to hear arguments for it.
subquestion to 3: Even if I don't move the challenge to 3 Ships, would people who are posting their fic to AO3 like a collection, or are y'all happy just to tag it?
4) Do you know a better online commenting system than Disqus? A few people said they had trouble logging into the system or that it had accessibility issues, but I never could figure out what it was that was causing the problem, exactly. How are IntenseDebate or Instacomment for you?

Date: 2010-09-27 05:25 am (UTC)B) It would hopefully eliminate the problems with commenting.
C) I really like being able to go in and fix the typos that sneak past spellcheck and my beta, that I often don't see until after I've submitted my story.

Date: 2010-09-27 07:48 am (UTC)2. Hmm... not so sure about this one either. There are new-to-me fandoms (i.e. K-Pop group Big Bang) that have threesomes I'm into, but they're not new in general, per sé. Also, the one new smaller "it" fandom I'm in (Scott Pilgrim) doesn't have a threesome I'm into.
3. Regardless of which way you go with it this year (it is your challenge, after all), I would love an AO3 collection. I really don't like using freeform tags, so a collection would be welcomed with open arms by me!
4. Can't help you there, I've only ever used Disqus and have no problems with it.

3. The only reason we should move to AO3 is if it makes the management easier for you. 3b. Don't care. Tagging is effectively the same as a collection from a search point of view.
4. No, I don't. I think I had some small problems with Disqus but I don't remember the detail. I remember being able to comment when I wanted to.

Date: 2010-09-27 01:20 pm (UTC)I'm not really into using AO3 if only because it still gives me trouble. I'm sure that's my dial up at least in part, but nevertheless trouble is trouble. Still if you decide to I'll post there - I do for Yuletide and will for any other challenges that ask for it.
Sadly I cannot help with the commenting systems. I am very bad at that.
Though I didn't mind - unless it's more work for you - when you did the comment threads in the LJ comm as well. Just a thought.

Date: 2010-09-27 05:59 pm (UTC)2.) Haven on SyFy has good threesome potential. I've been thinking about requesting and/or writing something for it (outside of 3_ships). Unfortunately, the fandom for it is still rather small.
3.) I have an AO3 account and I'll probably post there, but I still default to posting to LJ since that's where I spend most of my time. I'm pretty open to anything that gets decided about this.
4.) It actually took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about on this one, so obviously, I've never had problems with it.

Date: 2010-09-27 10:27 pm (UTC)2) Um. All of the "new" stuff I'm watching, besides Nikita, is East Asian drama, and new!Nikita doesn't have much of a fandom...(although I still kind of want to see Nikita/Michael/Alex).
3) Not much of an opinion on this one (besides, yes, collection is good), except for
4) Completely useless here. Sorry!

4. No clue about any of them.

Date: 2010-09-28 05:03 am (UTC)3. I'm not on AO3 so dw or lj is way easier for me than figuring out new ways to do stuff and dealing with glitches (not trying to start a debate about their merits, just saying that for me personally it's easier to not have to sign up for a new account or to figure out new tech stuff). But obviously I'm just one person and maybe other people like ao3 better, and that's cool too.
4. Didn't have trouble commenting last time.

Date: 2010-09-29 05:27 am (UTC)I have to admit, the one good thing I can see about moving things to AO3 is - as others have said - that would make it a lot easier to offer/request smaller fandoms. I usually just tell you to poke at me if you have any obscure requests, since I'm basically in every fandom ever known, but I know that a lot of people (myself included) tend to not request threesomes from smaller fandoms simply because the odds are nobody offered to write for it because they didn't want to clutter up the spreadsheet any more than it already is.
As for collection vs. tagging, I really have no preference. I already have my stories tagged with Community: 3_ships, so they're fairly easy to find if someone's searching.

Date: 2010-09-29 08:10 pm (UTC)3. Whatever really. I have an AO3 account but I'm happy posting wherever. And even if the fest is run AO3, I think its a good idea to have a collection there to make it easier for others to find the stories. One could look through the tags, but... I don't and I have to wonder how many other people do (even though I do tag the hell out of my works xD ).
